- Biographical / historical:
Charles Sheffield (1935-2002) was a mathematician and science fiction author. He was born in England and lived in the United States for most of his life. He was a chief scientist and board member of Earth Satellite Corporation, and a president of the Science Fiction Writers of America. He died on November 2, 2002 of brain cancer.
