6 Cubic Feet 6 cubic feet (6 record cartons) of materials spanning the years 1778-1838 and documenting the business and personal interests of several generations of the Darcy family, who resided at the estate of Pemberly in Derbyshire in England. Their business interests included agriculture, tenant farming, and a coal mine. The records include letters, rent books, and other business records. The collection also includes personal correspondence, diaries and journals, and personal ephemera.

Scope and content:

This collection contains material regarding Jane Austin and Mr. Darcy, collected and compiled by the Pemberly Estate archivists, Patty Wanninger and George Holbert Tucker between 1987-present day. The bulk of the material was collected by the Darcy Family.

Arrangement:

This colleciton is made up of three series. Series I: Business Records containing Rent ledgers, 1808-1828; Correspondence relating to the Coal mine, 1818-1828; and Correspondence relating to the estate. Series II: Family Papers,Correspondence, Fitzwilliam Darcy, 1896-1808; Correspondence, Fitzwilliam Darcy, 1808-1840; Diaries and journals of Darcy Family members, 1798-1820.
