The collection contains 25 photographs and 3 maps of Paradise Isles, also known as the Cockroach Bay Preserve area in Tampa, Florida. The photographs feature waterborne views of several islands, including Goat Island, Snake Island, Whiskey Key, and Big Pass Key.
- Biographical / historical:
Paradise Isles in Tampa Bay comprised a group of islands extending three miles along the Little Manatee River in Hillsborough County, Florida, to its mouth at Tampa Bay. From there, the islands continued in a southwesterly direction for another six miles along the bay, totaling more than nine miles of waterfront. The isles were situated approximately nine miles across the bay from St. Petersburg and about twenty-five miles south of Tampa. Today, this area is known as the Cockroach Bay Preserve.
