This collection relates to the Florida State College for Women (FSCW) during the World War II period. The collection consists of newspaper articles, photographs, letters and documents concerning faculty, staff, and alumnae. These materials include a series of letters discussing plans for the installation of a plaque honoring alumnae in the military service and the American Red Cross. There are a series of index cards of a speech to the Alumnae Association of Pensacola announcing the installation. )

The Florida State University School of Dance Records contain promotional materials, programs, news clippings, photographs, correspondence, scrapbooks, school publications, dance scores, and other material documenting the school's performances and pedagogy.The collection consists of four series.

Henry Louis Hill served as a captain with the U.S. Army's 97th Infantry, Field Artillery, S-3 Battalion during World War II. This collection contains a veteran's questionnaire from Louis Hill; a one-page faded cartoon of native women on Guadalcanal; and a brief (less than one page) recount of how Hill came upon a Japanese lantern, which is also part of the collection. The collection also contains a black and white photograph of the president of Florida State College for Women (FSCW), Dr. Edward Conradi, buying supposedly the first defense bond issued in Tallahassee, FL, from Miss Mart Pierson (later married to Henry Louis Hill). According to the inscription on the photograph, the date was 14 December 1941, the first day defense bonds were sold in the US. Miss Pierson was the president of the College Government and chairman of the College Student Defense Committee. Also, there is a book of war stories from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, but Hill is not represented.

The collection of Janet Wells contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History, photographs and documents pertaining to her experience serving with the WAVES during World War II. Included are photographs of WAVES recreational activities, military portraits, and personal photographs of family and friends. Collection documents include letters regarding qualifications and service, receipts, certificates of satisfactory service, graduation, certificates, WAVES anniversary celebration programs, identification cards, tourist memorabilia, photographs, invitations, a booklet on transitioning back to civilian life, and uniform tickets. Publications included are a WAVES newspaper (1944), a personal letter (1944), WAVES handbooks and pamphlets, WAVES magazines (The Havelock, 1944-45), and a copy of Sounding Off (18 Jan. 1944), and Up Came a Ripple which was a book of WAVES cartoons by Dorothy J. Byerly in 1945.

The collection consists primarily of correspondence and documents relating to Ken van Assenderp's involvement with Florida State University in the years since his time as a student.

Academic robe and two caps belonging to former Florida State College for Women/Florida State University classics professor, Mettie Lynette Thompson.  The collection also includes a wooden plaque with the FSCW seal.
